THEY CAME FROM OUTER SPACE ... to draw our women!

Our second Dr Sketchy's was out of this world! Starring the delectable Gracie Hart and featuring: Robots! Aliens! Tentacles! HYPNOTIC LAZER BOOBS!

We pulled out all the stops for our b-grade retro sci-fi extravaganza. Our awesome artsy art monkey minions went so far as to construct a giant paper mache alien with tentacles galore for our stage.

But really, the night was all about boobs. And tentacles. Reckless utilised her hypnotic laser tits to broadcast Dr Sketchy's Chch live and intergalactic to an enthralled audience...

They were later used by the one and only Spacey Gracie Hart as a powerful weapon to neutralise all threats.

Art monkeys! Enthralled and in abundance on a cold and drizzly night.

Rosie made a most excellent effort with her hypnotic robo-boobs, which kept flashing all night long.

Tawdry, however, remains hypnotised by MC Hells Belle's planetoidal gazungas.

A gang of robots harangued Gracie, but she kept them at bay with a sultry batting of her eyelashes.

But soon she is in the inescapable clutches of Tenaclees, stuck posing for a b-grade movie poster... *horror!*

One of our embellishments was an invitation to add the special effects that our meagre budget couldn't supply.

The Evil Lady Pinkbits made an appearance; only to be molested by a randy space frog.

Hells hath no fury like... heeeyyy is that Mulder?

A Visit to Madame Butterfly's Vintage Style Boutique

Today the Sketchy Girls played dress ups at our most fashion forward sponsor's shop - Madame Butterfly's. Nestled at one end of Stanmore Rd this glorious shop is a treasure trove of vintage, quirky and timelessly stylish pieces of clothing from here, there and every when. And for those of you who just want to borrow an item for a good time, Melanie also hires some of the pieces out!

Distractions galore as we hunted for sparkly, spangly items to don for the next Sketchy session

Help! Rosie's trapped in a tasselled tinselesque number. But does she really want to escape?

Tawdry wrenched it off her and twinkled around in it for a while...

Melanie shows us her many wares. Oh so much treasure it was hard to keep on track...

SUPRISE SPACE LEOTARD ATTACK!

Taa Taa till next time!

Le premier!

Bonjour Art Monkeys,
It seems Christchurch is ready for thrills, frills and sketchy shenanigans. Our inaugural night was such a success that we had to turn some late-comers away before we'd even struck the first pose. Goodbye Blue Monday was filled to the brim with sketchy enthusiasts with pencils at the ready.

MC Hells Belle is seriously considering decapitating Tawdry's cheeky lil head.

Our models Nancy and Jonathon Nightshade

Settling in for a pose....

A certain Art Monkey from the audience needed an on-stage spanking. It's all fun and games until you get a french stick in your eye.

Sketchers in motion

The crowd suggested a Mortal Kombat pose

Our headmistress Tawdry Trainwreck enjoys a spanking

Sketches galore

Visit our facebook group to see all the photo evidence of our debut. Thanks to all the enthusiastic local Art Monkeys who came along as well as our great sponsors. Heaps of rewards were awarded to sketchers from Absolution, Madam Butterfly's, The Flying Burrito Brothers and Holistic Body Basics.
A bientôt!

NYC Adventures

Well I managed to tear myself away from the awesomeness that was New York and come home to you, dear Chch Art Monkeys. I had so much fun, probably too much, in fact. Amongst eating an array of odd sounding foods and spending a large portion of my budget on beautiful lacy things that I hope everyone gets to see, I attended the official Dr Sketchy's NY Art Monkey's Ball to conduct important research and meet our esteemed founder, the lovely Molly Crabapple, and her cohorts.

I'll share just a little of the experience with you...

I wandered into the Red Lotus, a very well hidden underground bar in the heart of Brooklyn. The only sign of the shenanigans inside was a glamourously dressed lady entering a small roll-down door, her red lipstick and pencil skirt as much out of place on the street in the daytime as my cincher and heels. Upon entering we were greeted by red walls, antique silk screens and strings of lanterns lending a moody light to low tables attended by absorbed sketchers. An array of models fanned out across the room - their pose times varying from 1minute to 10minutes, with the main stage hosting the glorious Amber Ray holding longer poses.

This wasn't just any Dr Sketchy's event - this was a mammoth party and a feast for the eyes. From the aerialist Seanna Sharpe twisting and twining her way through gauzy fabric, Dame Cuchifrita in 1920's garb and strung with pearls to Bambi Galore in rainbow plumes and many other stunning and talented models gracing the venue. I basked in the glory of it all for a bit before making some sketches myself, supping absynth surrounded by like-minded sketchy feinds attempting to capture the moment of each pose... bliss.

Voulez-vous être artistique avec moi?

Lose your head with an intoxicating mix of burlesque and life drawing.

From Brooklyn beginnings, Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School has spread across the globe and has finally arrived in Christchurch. We're inviting you to our inaugural night for some drinking, drawing and debauchery.

Bring your own drawing materials to sketch our tasty burlesque performers from Ayla's Angels – Nancy and Jonathon Nightshade. The theme for our debut is the French Revolution. Feel free to dress the part. Ooh la la!

At Dr. Sketchy's, we don't care if the last time you picked up a sketchpad was yesterday or in the 18th century. Come to drink or to draw or both. We're happy to have you.

There will be strange contests with great prizes from our sponsors: Madam Butterfly's, Absolution, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Holistic Body Basics, and Minifies.

Thursday 24 June, 2010 at Goodbye Blue Monday.
