Biker Babes on the Bus

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines… and join us for a very special Dr. Sketchy's session. It's a night of drinking and drawing, onboard the bus at Smash Palace.

Tawdry and Juju will be our models, muses and bad influences. It's 'Bike Night' at Smash Palace but these rebels are taking their tassels aboard the bus. Toot toot! There'll be plenty of cheek with these foxy floozies about!

They'll strut their stuff down the aisle of the bus, on top of the tables and in your face. Be prepared for a very different sketchy experience. You'll get to draw from many different angles but you may need to move around, perhaps to give up your seat for our biker babes.

For this Sketchy's, no pre-sale tickets are required, but please bring a suggested donation of $5 to fuel your local sketchy girls.

Sketching begins at 7pm. Bring your own art supplies, but this time keep them simple as we may move about. Inks and paints may be prone to spilling once we get rolling.

The sketchy girls got down and dirty for our Wrestlemania session. In the battle for the Championship garter-belt, no punches were pulled - we had hard hitting professional posers at work!

MC Randy Rosie Savage was in fine form - wrangling our gorgeous grapplers and keeping our ringside art monkeys in line.

Our models went head to head in the battle of the booty. The beautiful Brigitte de Brief made a welcome return to the stage as the formidable Undie-Taker!

 Our  heathenly headmistress, Tawdry Trainwreck, masqueraded as The Bushwhacker. 

Smack down came at an unexpected moment - Tawdry's down trou'ing of The Undie-Taker could not go unpunished!

 The best dressed award went to the Crotch Crusher - with her custom made cape and villainous sneer!

And then there was jelly. A suprise treat for Tawdry our art monkeys, we revealed it's full glory in the second half of the night. Our sultry scrappers got...slimy.

 

Suffice to say: jelly was the winner on the night....

Our mighty muses threw in the towel and made up for the final pose; united in stickiness and sweat.

It was a night of unexpected absurdity and plenty of awesome. Dr. Sketchy's Christchurch presents Wrestle Mania; a night of drinking, drawing and burlesque-flavoured brawling. Pin ups, pinned down! Things are bound to get hot and heavyweight in this epic encounter between Tawdry 'The Bushwhacker' Trainwreck and Brigitte 'The Undie-Taker' de Brief.

Amateur wrestlers, professional posers: our muses will knock your socks off!

Flex your drawing muscles and get a table ring-side to sketch this saucy scrap. BYO drawing supplies and don't forget your mouthguard. MC Rosie Reckless will be refereeing your attire and also your smack talk.

Second Birthday Burlesque Bash

June marked the second anniversary of Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School in Christchurch. It's been a stupendous couple of years filled with breathtaking burlesque, scintillating sketching and large quantities of bawdy jokes, booze and boobs. Our birthday session was one big Party Party Party!

To get the party started and celebrate in style, crowd favourite and sketchy siren Gracie Hart paid us a special visit from the windy shores of Wellington.

 Our stage set as well as the model looked good enough to eat!

You can have our cake and sketch it too! (But don't touch the shoes)

Best. Present. Ever.

 The crowd was a festive one - donning glad rags, party hats and sketching up a storm!

For her first performance, Gracie sang a sultry number that got all our hearts thumping.

One of our embellishment challenges was to draw a portrait of your dream date on a balloon. Our prize winner got a bit more than he bargained for...

To prevent any peckish art monkeys from getting their nibble on, the wonderful Princess Pi baked us a giant batch of cupcakes. They went down a treat at half-time!

Gracie spoilt our crowd further when the time came for her second performance. Glow sticks for everyone! Glitter! And glowing body paint! After the second party-licious performance, we had our first ever pose in the dark! We encouraged the audience to take pause and try to capture the essence of the glowing hand prints Gracie had left, er, behind...

The sketchy girls and our rugged up art monkeys partied on at Smash Palace - where our old friends and hosts from Goodbye Blue Monday now ply beer and mulled wine from inside a bus! It was a great reunion of burlesque, bikes and a very ubiquitous can of whipped cream....

 

It's been a crazy, fabulous and rewarding couple of years. We owe many thanks to our loyal art monkeys, who have continued to give Tawdry an excuse to parade about in various states of undress, Rosie an outlet for her amazing drinking and design skills, and a multitude of performers a gig to showcase their talents and er, assets on a regular basis.

Yeeeehawww! Beef up your drawings skills at our farm themed night of drinking, drawing and dames!

Mark this date in your country calendar. The wholesome beauty that is Sass Penders joins us for her sketchy debut. Admire and draw her prize winning calves. Mooooo-ooooo!

Rosie Reckless plays MC with her razor sharp wheat. She'll try keep the animal puns to a minimum as they're not funny in any neigh, sheep or farm.

Madonna of the Bowling Green

We got into the groove of 2012 with an ode to the queen of pop and (at times, somewhat sketchy) style icon: Madonna. Desperately Sketching Susan had our art monkeys scrabbling for tickets, resulting in a packed house to welcome our diva-licious demi-goddess - Willow Noir. Willow made a special trip down from the windy shores of Wellington to model and perform for us and we were utterly stoked to have her!

Willow's first performance, touched us (for the very first time) as she sashayed around the room and shimmied into something a little more... sketchable.

Many a Chch art monkey became enamoured of our model. She had us wrapped around her lace-gloved finger!

Willow answered our prayers as a stunning model and cheeky performer!

Like an Icon, Willow rocked a costume change and provided plenty of thrust and grind in her second performance.
